About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Solutions Adviser to deliver the Enterprise Durham Framework (EDF) in South Durham. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting businesses, entrepreneurs, and start-ups, providing expert advice and tailored solutions to help them grow and succeed.
As a key member of the delivery team, you will act as the front door to the entire EDF service, working with clients on a relational basis to understand their needs, challenges, and opportunities. You will use a common insightful diagnostic tool to assess businesses and provide generalist start-up support, ensuring they receive the right guidance and access to relevant resources.
You will also proactively maintain contact with clients, supporting them in building their own capacity and capability, empowering them to drive sustainable growth and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for businesses engaging with the EDF service.
- Provide one-to-one business support, helping clients identify challenges and opportunities.
- Use an insightful diagnostic tool to assess businesses and recommend tailored support.
- Deliver generalist start-up support, offering practical advice on business planning, funding, and operations.
- Assist businesses in developing growth strategies, accessing finance, and improving resilience.
- Deliver workshops, events, and training sessions on business strategy, funding, innovation, and digital transformation.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, business networks, and funding bodies.
- Keep up to date with local and national business support schemes and guide clients towards the best resources available.
- Maintain regular contact with clients, helping them build their own capacity and capability.
- Support start-ups, SMEs, and scaling businesses to access grants, loans, and investment opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and client progress tracking.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience in business advisory, enterprise support.
- Understands the challenges and opportunities for businesses in South Durham.
- Can build strong relationships and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Is confident in delivering one-to-one mentoring.
- Has knowledge of business finance, grant funding, and investment readiness.
- Works independently, manages time effectively, and delivers high-quality support to businesses.
- Holds a relevant qualification in business, finance, or economic development (desirable but not essential).
